We need help please! We are setting a ptp link with 2xB5 here in Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan. Unlock and Firmware update are okay, but the Radio Tx Power range is -7 dBm to -2 dBm (see on the pictures). We need to set the Tx Power to 27dBm with like on the Design Link picture. We have set the link in our office (a room), but when we will deploy radios on a long distance (10Km), we know Tx Power will be a problem for us. Thanks for your help.
First off, you are in a DFS frequency, maximum EIRP (the TX Power of your radio + the dB of antenna) is going to be pretty strictly limited.
Secondly, I don’t know West Africa’s 5 GHz EIRP limits. In the United States I believe you can use significantly higher EIRP (53 dBm) if you are using ~5.725 GHz through 5.8 GHz. Please refer to this link:
http://backhaul.help.mimosa.co/backhaul-faq-maximum-tx-power for examples of US power regulations.
After a quick Google Search I was not able to find anything about West Africa’s EIRP limits. So I would try changing the channels around and see if you can find one that lets you use more power. That is one benefit of the B5 radio, it is very difficult to use illegal amounts of power which can get you into trouble.
I know I answered on Facebook, but please view the following link to add licensed mode to your cloud account:
